Gout Out® NZ Returns & Refund Policy

Last Updated: 21 June 2026

Gout Out® NZ operates under New Zealand consumer law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) and Fair Trading Act 1986, which ensure that consumers are entitled to remedies for faulty or misrepresented products. This policy outlines how we apply these rights across the products we sell. Gout Out is a registered brand name of Maxalite NZ Limited.

General Returns Policy

Gout Out® NZ operates a strict return policy based on product type:

  1. Imported Products: May carry manufacturer warranties based in their country of origin.

  2. Standard Products (Supplements, Test Kits, and Accessories): Covered by a faulty product warranty only. These items cannot be returned due to a change of mind, disliking the product, or perceived non-performance.

Many of our products are health, dietary, or consumable personal-use items (such as opened supplement bottles or blood testing components). Once opened, unsealed, or used, they cannot legally or ethically be resold. Therefore, we do not accept returns for change of mind on these items, except where explicitly required by the CGA (i.e., if the product is structurally faulty, unsafe, or fundamentally not as described).

Refund Processing

  • Refunds are processed in batches and may take 7–14 business days to clear.

  • Approved refunds are returned strictly to the original method of payment via the Shopify platform. We do not retain or store any financial payment details.

  • Additional processing delays may occur depending on third-party payment providers (such as Afterpay or PayPal).

Consumer Responsibility & Expectations

We strongly encourage customers to make informed decisions before purchasing. Due to individual variations in health, diet, genetics, and lifestyle, results with uric acid management and natural dietary supplements will vary. Results are not guaranteed.

Change-of-mind refunds or refund requests based on a lack of expected personal results (i.e., "perceived non-performance") are not covered under the Consumer Guarantees Act and are not accepted by Gout Out® NZ.

Imported Product Warranties

Some imported components or diagnostic testing equipment may be backed by international manufacturer warranties. Because returning items overseas is often not viable or cost-effective for the consumer, Gout Out® NZ will act in good faith to offer a local refund or replacement, at our sole discretion, when a local resolution is reasonable and practicable.

Faulty Product Warranty – 60 Days

Under the Consumer Guarantees Act, if a product is genuinely faulty, not fit for purpose, or not as described, you are legally entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund.

Gout Out® NZ will:

  • Accept faulty product claims within 60 days of the original shipping date.

  • Request photographic or video evidence of the fault to help expedite your claim.

  • Offer a swift replacement product. If a replacement is unavailable, a similar alternative item may be offered, or a full refund provided if no alternative is acceptable to you.

To submit a fault claim, please email admin@maxalite.com with a detailed description of the issue and attach a photo of the product. Shipping costs for returning items for inspection are the responsibility of the customer, except where required otherwise by the CGA.

Change of Mind Returns (Unopened Items Only)

We do not generally accept returns for a change of mind. However, if our support team grants a discretionary exception for an unopened, completely sealed, and untampered item:

  • The customer must cover the full cost of returning the product safely to us.

  • The original shipping fee paid at checkout is non-refundable.

  • A 20% restocking fee will be deducted from the final credit to cover administrative and processing overheads.

  • Products must be returned to us within 14 days of purchase in pristine, resalable condition.

Return Address

All authorized returns must be sent to:

Your Rights Under NZ Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your statutory rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986. You are fully entitled to a remedy if a product you purchase from us is:

  • Faulty or damaged

  • Totally unfit for its explicitly stated purpose

  • Not as described or represented in our store listings
